The research found Credit Suisse’s Wikipedia page the most complete and easily consultable among Switzerland’s 48 largest listed companies. Syngenta, Nestlé and Zurich Financial follow close behind. The Lundquist study also found that Swiss companies underperform compared with the world’s biggest corporations. To improve their online presence they must engage with Wikipedia, not back away as is often assumed.

For those who are interested in social media, there is an interesting conference in Paris on 22-23 March 2010. Marketing 2.0 (M2C) will bring together experts and specialists to discuss the future of marketing, (social) media, and advertising, as well as new technology.
The main goal of the M2C is to exchange ideas and learn how to handle the dramatic changes in media, marketing, and consumer behavior in your day-to-day business using the latest knowledge, best practice, and trends. We try to gain insights from the bigger picture instead of focusing on only one discipline, such as technology, marketing, or media. Furthermore, we recognize that all areas are becoming ever more connected and also recognize the need for better understanding across all departments today.
If you click on the icon on the Comminsight blog and add the code: PGM2C2 you can benefit from a slight discount.
See you in Paris!

Social media and business

An interesting post by Sharlyn Lauby about implementing social media policies in business:
Companies are realizing that people are talking about them whether they like it or not. As a result, they’re deciding whether they should consider having a social media presence, and hence, a policy. A social media policy outlines for employees the corporate guidelines or principles of communicating in the online world.
Social media is quickly moving from an emerging form of communication to the mainstream. So, just like in the old days when companies had to figure out how to deal with email, now they have to figure out how to deal with Facebook() and all other new media venues. Let’s talk about the Five Ws to adopting a social media policy.
1. WHY have such a policy?
2. WHAT can social media do for my organization?
3. WHO should the policy cover?
4. WHERE should you let employees know about this policy?
5. WHEN is the right time to implement a policy?
