Responsible marketing and communications: an oxymoron?
Marketing and communications (M&C) ultimately aims to influence audiences. Is there a conflict between this desire to influence and the notion of responsible M&C? How is perception managed: is engaging in CSR credible or do companies have to go a step further to be convincing? In today’s competitive environment, M&C professionals need to go beyond social and environmental awareness – they need to think ethically and find a balance between truthful and persuasive messages.
At CSR Geneva’s next breakfast, Patricia Goldschmid and Glenn O’Neil of the Geneva Communicators Blog will discuss the issue of responsible M&C and how we can join forces to stand out from the crowd. Please join the informal discussion and share your thoughts and experiences on this topic.
Breakfast is on Wednesday 6th February, from 8 to 9am please bring chf 11 per person (which buys you one tea or coffee and all different sorts of interesting bread with jam, honey and chocolate spread (anything on top of this must be paid for additionally – it’s delicious and a bargain!). We’ll be at Le Pain Quotidien, 21 Boulevard Helvétique in Rive (1205 Genève), in a room on the right-hand side of the café as you look from the street – come in through its own glass door there.
Please reply to Caroline Redrup (caroline.redrup@iucn.org) to confirm your attendance.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Patricia & Glenn
