Swiss search engine gains momentum

According to the magazine “Le News“, a swiss search engine, which was launched  by Hulbee AG in June, has already attracted 400 000 users.

Swisscows.com – Switzerland’s answer to Google – is beginning to give the California search engine a run for its money. Responding to Google’s market hold, Swisscows presents itself as the first intelligent “answer engine” based on semantic information recognition coupled with intuitive search assistance.

The new search engine gives the user intelligent answers instead of just thousands of links. The new engine has a compelling advantage over US-based engines – Swisscows users leave no trace of themselves behind; their data are not recorded and hence not stored. Try it out at:www.swisscows.com

Employer Branding for a Storytelling Organization: Concept, implementation and lessons learned Event – 16 October 2014

The EMScom Alumni Association and Burson-Marsteller Switzerland invite you to join the event “Employer Branding for a Storytelling Organization: Concept, implementation and lessons learned”, an introduction to the EMScom Capstone consulting project, winner of the Burson-Marsteller Award 2012. Each year Burson-Marsteller Switzerland presents the Burson-Marsteller Award for Consulting Excellence during the EMScom Graduation Ceremony.

The award aims to honor the group with the EMScom Capstone consulting project of the highest academic standing. Recipients of the Burson-Marsteller Award exemplify the excellence for which the EMScom strives and the industry standards so highly valued by the agency.

The Capstone consulting project was carried out for Bonnier AB, an international media group headquartered in Stockholm, that at this time was facing the change into a digital world. A new kind of talent was required for this shift: the EMScom team was asked to raise Bonnier’s attractiveness for such digital talents. The team combined a classic employer branding approach with the storytelling methodology. The execution of the strategy made Bonnier one of the biggest climbers in the category “Young IT Talents” of Universum’s 2013 employer ranking.
The presentation will not only give an insight into the approach chosen and the solution presented to Bonnier, but also cover the implementation of the concept and lessons learned.

From Chief Executive to Chief Engagement Officer: the examining the transitional role of CEOs in Internal Communication

From Chief Executive to Chief Engagement Officer: the examining the transitional role of CEOs in Internal Communication
By Linjuan Rita Men

In a recent interview with McKinsey & Company in April 2014, Richard Edelman used the term “chief engagement officer” to describe a Chief Executive Officer’s (CEO) new role, when discussing how today’s leaders can regain public trust. Rather than merely formulate policies, CEOs must step forward, meet communities both internally and externally, establish personal relationships, and genuinely listen to people’s concerns. I cannot agree more!

CEOs and their organizations are naturally linked together. CEOs, especially those who are also founders of their organizations, define corporate DNAs such as corporate character, mission, goals, purposes, culture, and values. For example, consider Apple’s innovative and ruthless culture under Steve Jobs and Facebook’s ‘hacker’ culture under the leadership of Mark Zuckerberg. From a public relations perspective, CEOs serve as the “face” and spokesperson of their companies, shaping their firm’s corporate image in the eyes of their external constituencies. Moreover, as the top leaders and symbols of power within an organization, CEOs can support and participate in communication programs, set the tone for internal communication, and create communication systems that can be managed effectively.
