We are pleased to announce our next Lunchtime seminar – Communicating public-private partnerships.

Date: Friday 1 November 2013
Time: 12h30 to 14h00
Location: The Swiss Press Club, Route de Ferney 106, La Pastorale, 1202 Geneva
Fee: CHF 15.- per person includes drinks and snacks – payable at the door

Corporate engagement is a subject creating a lot of buzz from both sides of the fence – companies and NGOs. Today, it has evolved from being a “cost” to more sophisticated forms of engagement such as public-private partnerships (PPPs). The management of communications becomes therefore more complex and demands skills beyond traditional communications toolkits. This presentation will focus on the processes and new skills needed to develop and implement effective communications strategies around the partnerships involving actors from both the private and public sectors. It will be presented by two speakers from the the Advocacy & International Affairs Executive Certificate offered by the Graduate Institute in Geneva.

Places are limited due to the venue size, so please register early for the event.

Seminar on Lifeline Communications for Emergencies – 3 October 2013

The CDAC Network is  organising its first ‘101’ Seminar outside of the UK on Lifeline Communications for Emergencies. The seminar will be led by BBC Media Action’s Jacqueline Dalton (Senior Humanitarian Producer) and Robert Powell (Senior Adviser for Resilience and Humanitarian Response) and is being hosted in Geneva by the ICRC.

The Lifeline Communications for Emergencies seminar will cover how to share information effectively with crisis-affected people, including a particular emphasis on working with the media to achieve this. Among other challenges, attendees will be invited to develop a communications strategy and produce a short radio bulletin for an imaginary crisis-affected audience. The seminar will be of particular benefit to emergency operations managers who are keen to find ways of delivering  the most appropriate aid faster, more effectively and more securely to those who need it most.
