Geneva lunchtime seminar – SELF Branding: Friday 1 February 2013

We are pleased to announce our first event for 2013:

Lunchtime seminar – SELF Branding: When who you are is what makes the difference

Everyone knows what a brand is and what are the elements that make a marketing campaign successful. Now, let’s take a look at yourself. But are you aware of how you come across? Do you know what aspects of yourself people remember when you leave the room? Whether you’re job hunting, a student, or gainfully employed, your personal brand is key to effective interpersonal communication, positive results and… reputation.

Self Branding is all about who you are, what you want to be known for and how you want to be remembered. Our dynamic speaker, Carolina Rodriguez Barros, will talk about the key elements for successful SELF Branding and she will break down the process for building your brand into a few easy steps. She promises to leave us all with a lot of food for thought.

Date: Friday 1 February 2013
Time: 12h30 to 14h00
Location: The Swiss Press Club, Route de Ferney 106, La Pastorale, 1202 Geneva.
Fee: CHF 15.- per person includes drinks and snacks – payable at the door.

Carolina Rodriguez Barros, Founder and Director of Dare to Glow is definitely a rare trainer. People say she has an incredible way of transforming their lives. She calls herself a Glowing Master. Carolina, formerly an Industrial Designer from the University of Buenos Aires, is an author, speaker and consultant in Geneva.

After a 10-year international career developing markets and positioning for premium Argentinean products, she realised that her passion is to help people to express themselves in creative and effective ways. She founded Dare to Glow in Geneva where she facilitates workshops, seminars and private consultations since 2008. Her passion for creativity and self-expression led her to write “Reflections: how you see yourself and how others see you”, an e-book to be launched in March of this year.

New Certificate of Advanced Studies – Communication and Advocacy for Humanitarian Action

The CERAH of Geneva have launched a new 7 week certificate on Communication and Advocacy and Humanitarian Action that will start in February 2013.

Following is a description of the course:

Clear and efficient communication is essential to the success of projects carried out in emergency settings. NGO employees have to communicate effectively with each other, and often have to deal with media enquiries and inter-agency cooperation.

Communication during emergencies confronts several, important challenges. Humanitarian workers need to, often simultaneously, build positive relations with journalists, raise awareness and funds and lobby their cause.

It is therefore important for humanitarian professionals to understand the different stages and strategies, which play out during emergency communication.  These range from the production and reception of information, to the use of old and new media and communication tools and to the formulation of effective press releases. Such practical expertise and competence needs to be complemented by critical understanding of media ethics and the wider media image of humanitarian action. This course delivers on both aspects.
