Video recording of GCN lunch seminar “Blogging for organisations: are you doing it right?”

On Friday, 10 February, GCN welcomed Leyla Alyanak, a freelance writer, journalist, corporate communicator and public relations consultant for the lunch seminar at the Swiss Press Club. In her spare time, Leyla runs the highly popular Women on the Road, one of the world’s Top 100 Travel Blogs.

45 participants in the room along with a few members joining remotely via Facebook Live enjoyed a very instructional and entertaining seminar “Blogging for organisations: are you doing it right?” and noted down a long list of tips and tricks to implement in their organisations’ blogs.

A recording of the live streaming is now available for everyone who couldn’t make it to the event.

Lunchtime Discussion Forum – Being heard in the age of social media: Are we on the right track?- 8 December 2016

In the ever-changing media milieu within which we work, do you question whether your organisation’s media relations are on track? Do you wonder if there is more you could do to get better coverage? Or are you satisfied with your visibility in the media, but your management wants more? Do you have best-practice tips to share?

Whatever your questions, come and discuss with like-minded communication professionals at our lunchtime discussion forum in the spirit of exchange to help all our organisations improve their visibility and be better heard in this age of social media.

We are delighted to have an expert on the subject, former BBC correspondent and communications consultant and trainer, Claire Doole, moderate the discussion, as well as provide her own perspective. Attendees will be divided into discussion groups to address several questions and report back to the wider group. We will distribute a summary report to all participants after the event.

Lunchtime seminar wrap-up

Thanks to all the GCN members who attended the lunchtime seminar at the Swiss Press Club last Friday. Thank you also to  GCN co-founder Glenn O’Neil who shared very interesting insights about “challenges and complexities of communication evaluation”.

Communication is increasingly recognised as a powerful and strategic tool for organisations. Yet little focus is placed on how to evaluate communication activities. Drawing from his recent PhD studies and over a decade of experience in evaluating communication campaigns and programmes, Glenn O’Neil will set out the challenges and complexities of evaluation and offer insights into solutions and approaches to ensure that evaluation brings value to communication professionals and their organisation.

GCN lunch wrap up

Thanks to all the participants who attended our lunchtime seminar on December 11th. Melitta’s presentation on “Writing for the Web” was very appreciated and provided some very good guidelines to keep in mind when designing a website.

This will be our last event for this year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members for their ongoing support and positive feedback. We wish you all a happy holiday and a great start to the new year.

2016 will be our 10 year anniversary. We are working on a new website as well as more exciting events and workshops.
