We are going through special times coping with the circumstances of the lockdown. Working from home and being restricted in our movement influences our daily life in countless ways. Many of us find ourselves in many online meetings. They are not always pleasant. oStill, when we see the glass half full there are positive sides (solidarity, innovative and creative power of people, less pollution) and we can hope that something good comes out of this that will last beyond Covid-19, for us, our community, and the planet.

Your hosts for this 2-hour workshop
We, Nadia and Sarah, are two passionate explorers and “travel guides”. Nadia, a facilitator and method coach, loves embarking on joint learning journeys. She loves creative challenges and feels energized by bringing conversation and collaboration to life. Sarah, a mountain leader and facilitator, brings groups to the mountains to share nature and her favourite parts of Switzerland. While her favourite workshop space is outdoors, she is enjoying the current opportunities for online connection and inspiration.
We both work in a networked way; putting our heads together and combining our talents gives us energy and satisfaction. The idea of working together with De Bono’s Six Thinking Hats started in a retreat in and with nature. We never imagined — until now — that we would do it online.

Who we are
We are the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), the largest and oldest international cancer-fighting organisation. We are a not-for-profit membership organisation, which was founded in Geneva in 1933, and which today counts over 1,150 member organisations in 173 countries.
UICC is the organisation behind World Cancer Day, a global public awareness day, which takes place every 4 February. The day exists to bring cancer into sharp focus by raising global public awareness and to support our members in strengthening public literacy and political action around cancer.
The website: worldcancerday.org
The website is the digital, global home and hub for World Cancer Day (with over 90% of surveyed members having visited the website) with all pieces of communications directing supporters to the website. The website is an opportunity to make supporters feel part of a global community, to learn more about the issues, be inspired by what other supporters and doing, learn how to get involved, where supporters are recognised and showcased, and to engage with the content.
In 2020, the website received an unprecedented number of visitors to the website. In the campaign period, worldcancerday.org welcomed over 600,000 unique visitors (a 70%+ increase to the year before), with close to 100,000 campaign materials downloaded and nearly 9,000 direct shares of the website content.
The mandate
The mandate is an interesting one: a chance to work on an already successful and recognised, global public-health campaign website.
The successful applicant would have the opportunity to work closely with the UICC communications team on implementing improvements and optimising the existing worldcancerday.org website in the first year, but later on build an entirely new website for the 2022-2024 campaign (with Drupal as the CMS).

Geneva Solutions, a digital platform, was selected as the best proposals submitted in a response to the call for projects launched by the Swiss authorities to create a media platform on the work of organizations providing services on a global scale from Geneva. To launch a new Manual on how to manage misinformation in a humanitarian context Internews is hosting a webinar for humanitarian, media and community practitioners.
By connecting the dots in local information ecosystems in humanitarian contexts, the Internews Rumour Tracking Methodology shows what needs to be done to manage misinformation, build trust and allow reliable information to build traction among those who need it most. They will highlight key elements of the manual and place the methodology in the context of some of the trickiest misinformation challenges faced in our work.
The webinar will be facilitated by Viviane Lucia Fluck, PhD, who authored the manual. The manual was produced with financial support from the United States Agency for International Development.
